Johns Hopkins gynecologic oncology pathologists are experts at making an accurate diagnosis of suspicious ovarian masses.  Intraoperative pathological diagnosis of biopsies is provided to patients undergoing surgery at Johns Hopkins and is obtained within 20 - 30 minutes so that if a diagnosis of cancer is found, further surgery to remove the tumor can be performed immediately.  Our pathologists are experts at recognizing early stage borderline tumors that do not need aggressive surgical treatment, avoiding unnecessary therapy and preserving fertility.
