    Physician to Physician

Physicians often refer their patients to Hopkins for a thorough and complete evaluation, clincial summary and recommended course of action.  The results of these consultations are verbally communicated to the referring physician within 24 hours, with a written summary following within five working days.

    24-Hour Physician Consultation Service
The Ovarian Cancer Center is an educational and consultative resource for physicians, highlighting the importance of partnering with primary health care providers for continued care of patients with ovarian cancer.  Physician-to-physician consultations are available 24 hours a day through the Hopkins Access Line, 410-955-9444 or 1-800-765-5447.

    Providing Second Opinions
When patients already have been evaluated by a physician and received recommedations, Hopkins gynecologic oncologists can provide a second opinion, reviewing X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs and other imaging studies as well as pathology specimens and the full medical record.  An expert opinion is generated based on all the available information and knowledge of the scientific literature and newer unpublished investigations.  This information is then reviewed, in person, at a consultation with the patient and any family members or friend that she desires.

    Our Tumor Board
Our Tumor Board is a weekly review of all surgical patients including complex and interesting cases on patients seen at Hopkins in consultations.
